That is really a big problem.
Take a look at the IT[X]-Templates:
IT-classes - the Template System
ITX-classes - a wrapper for IT, offering the PHPLib-Template-API
The most template classes have the same basic functionality - at least
assigning variables and block support. So we should provide a template standard
API for such basic stuff. New template classes in PEAR should provide this API
as far as possible by native implementation or a wrapper class.
