exactly that's what i am planning. what i have in my head is actually something like this: $l10n = new L10N( 'de_DE' ); // localize for 'de_DE' $l10n->formatDate( $timestamp ); $l10n->formatCurrency( $amount ); for the date there has to be some special timestamp, like one as the default one, which start 1970, and another one which also handles dates that are before that ... but the formatDate-method shall somehow (if possible) detect itself which one it is, so the API stays simple. and the PEAR::Date class would only need to handle timestamps, so i think it would work with the current implementation even without changes, right? wolfram Lukas Smith wrote:
Then lets have a solution for handling dates in there too .. I have begun looking at Java on how they do it ... Anyways there was already some discussion on that topic in pear-general (because I started the discussion there by mistake) Regards, Lukas Smith smith@dybnet.de _______________________________ DybNet Internet Solutions GbR Reuchlinstr. 10-11 Gebäude 4 1.OG Raum 6 (4.1.6) 10553 Berlin Germany Tel. : +49 30 83 22 50 00 Fax : +49 30 83 22 50 07 www.dybnet.de info@dybnet.de -----Original Message----- From: Wolfram Kriesing [mailto:lists@kriesing.de] Sent: Sunday, November 10, 2002 3:08 PM To: pear-dev@lists.php.net Subject: [PEAR-DEV] another template engine for pear? after getting Alan's opinion i am courageous enough to ask here :-) do you think it makes sense to propose SimpleTemplate to be a PEAR-package? i would try to merge Flexy-features into it and propose it under a new name to pear (btw. HTML_Template_Flexy was branched away from SimpleTemplate by Alan). Since it perfectly works together with PEAR::I18N i am planning to make a demo of how to make multilingual sites easy to create. i am also planning on putting up a L10N-package/class (may be inside I18N ... to be discussed) so there will be a complete set of an internationalized solution for creating applications. Alan proposed: HTML_Template_Simple, probably, although it doesnt do justice to it :).. HTML_Template_SmartyLite, may be a better one... (and gives a sense of it's heratige..) - we can also phase out Flexy... i dont know if HTML is the right root-category, since the template engine can be used with any kind of text-file what do you think? some info can be found here http://opensource.visionp.de/modules/project/simpletpl.php very short summary of the feature list, just to know what it does - compiling templates (like Smarty) - can cache them, with dependencies, etc. - with PEAR::I18N even translating is easy - each template is configurable, via XML-chunks and/or files - very configurable etc. -- Wolfram ... translating template system ... http://sourceforge.net/projects/simpletpl now also as PEAR-package available ... authentication system .... http://sf.net/projects/auth ... and more at .... http://opensource.visionp.de -- PEAR Development Mailing List (http://pear.php.net/) To unsubscribe, visit: http://www.php.net/unsub.php
