i managed to compile the module from a left-behind temp directory i had to copy this from the output of pear install bcompiler /bin/sh ./libtool --mode=compile gcc -I. -I./bcompiler-0.4 -DPHP_ATOM_INC -I./include -I./main -I/tmp/tmp4bnOzA/bcompiler-0.4 -I/etc/include/php -I/etc/include/php/main -I/etc/include/php/Zend
-I/etc/include/php/TSRM -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -prefer-pic -c ./bcompiler.c -o bcompiler.lo
heavily modified... all of the -I directives were including the wrong files (using /usr/local instead of /etc) then I did make and the module was compiled in modules/ All is working now Thanks Mike At 08:12 13/11/2002 +0800, you wrote:

Just ignore this one, it's a typo in the code, but won't matter unless you use the --install-root option. - Stig
I still do not have a bcompiler.so file. It seemed to get generated, but lost in the temp directory. i.e. the last command installing bcompiler.so + cp /tmp/tmpXh3Kqc/bcompiler-0.4/bcompiler.so ext_dir is not actually copying /tmp/tmpXh3Kqc/bcompiler-0.4/bcompiler.so to /etc/lib/php/extensions would upgrading PEAR help?
Probably - I couldnt work out why it would be at 572 in the current installer.. Regards Alan
