On 2002-11-25 12:00, while getting another beer from the fridge I saw a
little yellow card, on which Wolfram Kriesing wrote:

I see that the translation class, now uses only DB interface taht can overhead a bit the data base if the pages contain a lot of text or a lot of clients fecth the pages at the same time. I want to make a warper for gettext message translation in a I18N Translate class, where i can start? Any help will be apreciated. great. i would suggest to have a look into the other classes, not only the I18N_Message_Translation, but all the other I18N_Message_* classes, since they provide something alike. i just really didnt have the time to look into those, but as far as i know there is supposed to be something like an gettext-wrapper, you might prove me wrong. what i also have in mind already for quite some time, but as usual no time to implement yet is: *completely redesign the I18N_Message - API to support the following* - different data sources where to get the translations fromVoytecksuch as gettext, DB, text-files, etc.- different translate levels/methods for translating either:plain strings, dynamic strings, markup-strings, etc.- a unique interface for all those data sourcelike: $translate = new I18N_Message( 'mysql://user@host' ); $translate = new I18N_Message( 'gettext://directory' ); $translate = new I18N_Message( 'plainFile://file.xxx' ); etc.help/suggestions/implementations would be great :-) As you might think I am dead (not writing anything :) ) - but I am still alive. I just haven't time to redesign my translation class for the things we discussed some time ago. But I am hoping to find some time this week - so maybe the merging of the Translation and I18N classes some day will come true :)
