I honestly don't think they are against open source projects (what is php
after all), just perhaps misguided in their implementation of a good idea.
It is admittedly simpler to parse doc comments that only have tags, and it
seems that this may just be a speed consideration. phpDocumentor is not the
kind of tool you want churning away every time you type in a comment in your
source code :). It's the kind of tool you run when the comments are
finished, and for huge projects, it's the kind of tool you start running and
then go off for a coffee break. Incidentally, we're hoping to shorten that
interval to a bathroom break when the tokenizer stabilizes ;)
