How about the following?: [optionally] interface pearweb release system with freshmeat Every package manager would be able to choose if he wants his

announced no freshmeat as well. This way PEAR packages would get

exposure. Just a thought that I want to throw out there.
cool idea. i think we have to talk to the freshmeat guys, because they once rejected a release of PEAR::Tree because i didnt release it as an independent package, which was downloadable and able to run without pear. (i think they said you release it on pear, so you have to anounce it there) so i think that either (1) the time will come once PEAR is installed with PHP by default and packages that run based on PEAR become 'normal' or 'standard', so this is no reason anymore for the freshmeat guys to reject packages or (2) every PEAR-package has to be able to run independently, which in my eyes doesnt make much sense and is not possible anyway, and not meant to be, i guess or (3) one can convince the freshmeat guys that PEAR-based packages are 'allowed' to be announced on frehsmeat :-) anyway ... i think it would be great to arrange some kind of way to announce pear packages on freshmeat well i have MDB on freshmeat ... anyways freshmeat can handle dependencies, so I see no reason why depending on other stuff is a problem.
well, i see no problem either. i just wanted to share my experience :-) it is cool if they accept stuff now, as you say ... so forget all my problematic thoughts :-))) -- Wolfram ... translating template system ... http://sourceforge.net/projects/simpletpl now also as PEAR-package available ... authentication system .... http://sf.net/projects/auth ... and more at .... http://opensource.visionp.de
