Hi Greg,
Nice to receive a message from you. I know you have been quite actively
developing PHPDocumentor, and thank you for your effort.
I am not sure exactly what BlueMantis will eventually be. I am working
full-time right now, which leaves me little time for my own projects. So
far it has been my attempt to make a website system that caters to the web
developer as consultant. In other words, it is supposed to be a system that
makes it easy to showcase complete code projects (aka 'products'), and also
to build libraries of code snippets, examples, and tutorials for people who
are learning. Plus, there are the other content things like 'About Us'
'News' etc. And, there are a lot of goals that are driven by my personal
tastes. For example, I have a large collection of bookmarks, and feel that
there is no other way to deal with bookmarks except to put them online. So,
I have added Padraic Renaghan's bookmarker system
(http://www.renaghan.com/pcr/bookmarker.html) to my website.
Lately, I've been hoping that BlueMantis could develop into THE CMS that
supports a 'guild' of free software developers in their quest to both
produce free software, collaborate, plus market and sell their services on
the web. To achieve such a lofty goal, would require quite a bit of work
indeed. For example, the online collaboration would be enabled by a
combination of tools (such as OPT for project management-see
http://outreach.sourceforge.net/) and technologies
(such as CVS). The trick
would be to integrate all these tools and systems.
Where PHPDocumentor would fit in, is that it would be installed on the
'private' part of the system so that all developers could quickly generate
documentation on their projects (and they would have to follow coding
standards *grin*). I would like to rewrite all my own code to take
advantage of what PHPDocumentor has to offer.
As my ambitions grow daily, what I have already accomplished seems less and
less important. However, I am hoping to provide 'official' source code and
some explanation as to what I am trying to do with BlueMantis shortly.
For the moment (because I have not had time to officially sanitize and
'release' the code) you can see the source code here:
http://freephile.com/services/index.php (click
the link at the top that says
'view source') You can view any file by adding a path to the "showSource"
file. For example, I wrote a 'Random Image' class, and you can see the
source of that at:
http://freephile.com/inc/_showSource.php?contentFile=/inc/_randomImage.php
One interesting piece that I've managed to glue into BlueMantis is the
visual editor: http://freephile.com/library/whiteboard.php
(click the link
to 'edit this page')
The old, and basic documentation is at http://freephile.com/docs/howto/
NOTICE TO ANYONE VIEWING SOURCE ON MY WEBSITE:
PLEASE respect that this is my website. There are no credit cards, or other
data that is worth stealing here, only my ideas, and they are all GPL. My
database contains log information, and bookmarks, again, there is nothing
worth stealing. If you find any possible security holes, I would appreciate
your bringing it to my attention so that I can continue to work on my ideas,
and share them with other people.
Thanks,
Greg Rundlett
