PEAR ist working on windows, only the installer script has some problems. I understand the reason for not delivering it, but why is this called 'beta' quality on http://pear.php.net? Why is nothing mentioned in the release notes (until now, PEAR Beta had been delivered with the releases) of the distribution? The status, PEAR wants to achieve (be better than CPAN) also lives from reliability - the system itself has to be stable and transparent, even if some of the classes are only in beta quality, others already discontinued. For me, this 'never-know-what's-going-on-next' is still the weakest point of PEAR, along with the thin documentation of the core system (imagine you're a windows user and then install PEAR acording to the official docs). This is specially bad because many classes have now grown mature and usable. I hope the developers keep an eye on this in order that PEAR doesn't continue as an insider tip - it would deserve much more. Christoph
