For new devepments follow the conventions should be a must. But for
those who want to port their work to Pear, have now defined their API
and have a great amount of users, we cann't expect they mark the next
version as API incompatible. So providing this compatibility layer is a
good idea for me.
Perhaps yet a new silly idea, but this layer could be in a child class
that extends the new class provinding the original interfaces.
