Sure, I'll take a shot at it (and will fight my internal urges to use perl for rewriting the file :). Also, are you cool with me augmenting PEAR/Builder to find the right php-config? On Monday, January 20, 2003, at 04:27 PM, Stig S. Bakken wrote:

Any thoughts on having the pear installer add to the php.ini the necessarylines to make extensions work (add the extension= line), and or comment if the extensions directory is not configured correctly? Right now a 'pear install apd' works like a charm, but it doesn't get activated and the docs are a bit unintuitive to find (IMHO). As extensions get moved into PECL for php5, there should be a greater amount of 'it just works' that happens.
That's a good idea. Commands ala "pear [de]activate-extension" would be handy as well. I don't have time right now, but feel free if you want to take a shot at it :) - Stig
