Maybe I'm reading the SOAP code in CVS wrong but the SMTP transport seems to simply use SMTP to send SOAP message (which is a cool and useful thing to have).
However, I want to enable administrators of an application the ability to remotely execute commands on a server via an email message. The key here is the email message needs to be something non-techy types can figure out.
Here is a sample scenario:
1) admin sends following message to maiinterface@example.com
command: help
site: http://www.example.com
2) server responds by sending an email response back:
command requested: help
resposne: successful
Message Text:
Available commands:
saveUser(username, firstname, lastname, email)
saveStory(topic,title,postmode,text)
3) Knowing the methods, the user sends another message:
command: saveUser
username: johndoe@example.com
firstname: john
lastname: doe
email: john.doe@example.com
4) Server responds:
command requested: saveUser
response: successful
That make more sense?

I know SOAP is a tad heavy, perhaps, but it has an SMTP transport defined for just this reason... -chuck
