Hi,
the PEAR Meeting is now planned to happen on May 9th at 17:30 at
Jeroen's offices which are not too far away from the PHPCon.
The time will mean that people can't attend the PHPCon keynote, but I
don't think it would be wise to move the meeting to a later time.
Please keep those confirmations flowing. I think we should be between
10-15 on the floor. More would probably not be beneficial in order to
keep the discussion manageable. Also the room fits 20 people max. We
will however have a life stream of the event plus IRC via a big screen
and I will make sure that their comments are also brought to the
discussion.
Anyways the real purpose of my mail is to work towards an Agenda.
Here are a few topics that come to mind:
- Quality vs. Quantity?
- Possible regulations to prevent some of the recent conflicts on the ML
- PEAR CS (method naming conventions?)
- PFC RFC
- PEAR Installer
- PEAR on windows
- PEARweb (rating system, comment system, package proposal)
- PEAR promotion
- PHP5
I think we should however not overestimate what this meeting can
achieve. To me the main goals of this meeting are as follows:
- improving the general feel within the PEAR community
- getting a better idea of what PEAR should be and how to best achieve
this
- brainstorming some ideas for PEARs future
Of course a lot of what we will talk about will require people that
actually implement what we come up with. So I think it will be critical
while we talk about improvements that we keep in mind realistic time
frames (which is hard to do in opensource I know).
Regards,
Lukas Smith
