I think it would be better to turn recursive operation off, by using
overloadNamespace() third parameter.
Instead of doing:
$trans->overloadNamespace('text', $txt);
You should do:
$trans->overloadNamespace('text', $txt, false);
If you wish to turn recursive operation off completely (not
namespace-based) you can also use the constructor parameter:
$trans = new XML_Transformer(array('recursiveOperation' => false));
