I'd really like to see HTTP_Request modified to do this.. - it seems bad enough we have 2 classes Curl/HTTP_Request to do downloading of a file But unless anyone jumps on the challenge, I guess this will have to go in... just my 2c Regards Alan LIMBOURG Arnaud wrote:

Hi! I'd like to propose a new Package for the HTTP Category, HTTP_Download. It allows you to download files over HTTP, reading their size prior to downloading them (The URL fopen wrappers don't do that), and reading them part-by-part, so you can watch the progress (The existing package HTTP_Request stores the complete response in an Response object right when sending the request). It's currently pretty coarse, I will add error handling (4xx,5xx) and better support for redirections (atm, it only supports redirections that conform to the HTTP/1.1 RFC, yet it does happen that servers only send relative paths instead of absolute URIs). You can view the source at http://prp0.prp.physik.tu-darmstadt.de/~swalk/HTTP_Download/Do wnload.html DocBook documentation will follow when i'm familiar with the format.
