I sent Richard an email, but some time ago he mentioned he is joining
the Navy and doesn't have time to maintain his packages, and asked for
new maintainers of some classes, including HTTP_Request. Did someone
take over HTTP_Request? Richard is still mentioned as the only developer
on pear.php.net.
I think I am fairly familiar with its code now, and i could maintain it
if noone else wants.
About integrating it:
It IS possible, it CAN be done without breaking BC, BUT as i see it now
that would require the program logic to choose one of two path right
after sending the request and parsing the redirections, boosting its
size - if having one workhorse for everything is preferred over having
multiple lightweight packages doing specialized things, that is the way
to go.
