Or what about writing a PECL using tidylib (see
http://tidy.sourceforge.net/libintro.html)?
Using Java from within PHP is either pretty unreliable and a pain to
install (if you use ext/java) or a ridiculous performance killer (starting
up a JVM on every request), therefore any alternative to use Java
packages/classes are good alternatives ;)
