Whoa! Haven't had a chance to get online last couple of days. Hadn't realised that this would become such a hot topic. Let me just say: Peace. Alexey Borzov wrote:
As I am good at spotting conspiracies, I think this is a conspiracy of SitePoint community to bring "bloat" to PEAR, as they are very fond of discussing said "bloat" and need to have something to back up their claims
If there's any "conspiracy" here it's probably as a result of me. After playing parsing ASP.NET templates with phpHTMLLib, I spoke to Walt who'd already considered submitting to PEAR and suggested he try again. The people who post on Sitepointforums are not organised (at least as far as I know!). Personally PEAR has really grown on me this year, partly as a concept and partly because the code is getting stronger and stronger. Where possible I make this point (e.g. http://www.phppatterns.com/index.php/article/articleview/47/1/3/). People are entitled to their opinions of course so if you disagree make your voice heard. When I get a moment I'll post some thoughts here about what seem to be the common misconceptions about PEAR that I see repeated on Sitepointforums, if that's useful to anyone. Anyway, time short right now. More when I get a chance.
