Hi!

Please excuse me, the whole 'conspiracy' thing was intended as a joke. I forgot to add a link to a previously unearthed 'conspiracy' to make this more obvious: http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=pear-dev&m=105527522220486&w=2As I am good at spotting conspiracies, I think this is a conspiracy of SitePoint community to bring "bloat" to PEAR, as they are very fond of discussing said "bloat" and need to have something to back up their claimsIf there's any "conspiracy" here it's probably as a result of me. After playing parsing ASP.NET templates with phpHTMLLib, I spoke to Walt who'd already considered submitting to PEAR and suggested he try again.
The people who post on Sitepointforums are not organised (at least as far as I know!). Personally PEAR has really grown on me this year, partly as a concept and partly because the code is getting stronger and stronger. Where possible I make this point (e.g. http://www.phppatterns.com/index.php/article/articleview/47/1/3/).The problem was, when you posted a link to Sitepoint discussion here, the PEAR-bashing thread was floating at the top of its 'Advanced PHP programming' forum. ;] There is some valid criticism in this forum, I read the thread about QuickForm there with great interest: http://www.sitepointforums.com/printthread.php?threadid=93442&perpage=50 I must admit that I agree with most of the points raised there, this is why I ended up as one of QuickForm's developers. But bashing something because you never ever bothered to understand it does not appeal to me, thus my reaction. As for phpHtmlLib, if it can be broken into smaller chunks (which I doubt, after looking at its code) conforming to PEAR coding standards, then it can be accepted into PEAR, chunk by chunk. But 'my kung-fu is stronger that yours' attitude alone is not sufficient for this. P.S. Thanks for your phppatterns.com site!
