Markus and Alan:
This is worth tracking down I think. Do you happen to be using php4.3.1? (I
am) I haven't narrowed down the problem yet, so I don't know if it's a php
version issue or a DataObjects issue. But something odd is happening and if
it is happening for Markus too, then something is up.
I set up a log to see when my page is being run and when these extra
inserts are taking place. So far I'm finding that the page is actually
being loaded and executed multiple times. And that this is happening after
page shutdown!!! (This is why the inserts seemed so mysterious - there is
only evidence in my log, you wouldn't see anything by just running the
page.)
Either php is loading the page several times and it's a php bug of some
sort or it could be that DataObject is doing something strange. I'm logging
the page execution very finely now - so I know what is happening - I just
can't understand why.
I plan to try the code on another machine and the latest php version to see
if it's a php version issue.
Any more thoughts would be appreciated.
Matt Friedman.

Interesting. I´ve experienced the exact same phenomenon today when
trying to connect a Flash movie with a remote PHP service using
DataObjects via AMFPHP - but there were just so many different
components involved that I wasn´t able to nail it down any further.
