Hi Philip,
Nokia phones with cameras allow you to take pictures anytime, anywhere. It's
really cool. Since I got my new phone, I can't stop taking pictures.
Actually, I can't wait to be at the beach ;) Unfortunatly, the latest
generation doesn't yet bake bread, but my girlfriend is kind enough to take
care of that...
Now, with my class, it's possible to post your pictures from the phone to
your server, in order to have them on your blog or in a photo gallery so
that later you can tell your friends "Hey, look at that girl I went out with
last night !".
The Nokia Image Upload Server API is probably used only with Nokia phones or
PDAs. Until the different mobile phones and PDAs makers don't use a
standardized API, I guess we are going to see one for Nokia, one for
Ericsson, and so on.
I have heard that Siemens bought a Symbian (Nokia phone OS) license so they
might be using Nokia API too.
About making it generic, you will have to send me a few phones, the latest
generation will do, so I can test my code ;) Seriously, I don't think this
is feasible because they are all going to have different API (and Image
Upload is not supported on all phones).
Cheers,
