I haven't looked at the source, but if all you mention is the difference, then this should be merged into Net_Whois not in addition too unless you can provide a reason why this is not possible. -1 - Davey Luke Woollard wrote:
I'd like to propose the addition of a new package Net_Whois_Meta. Net_Whois_Meta performs whois queries for Top level Domain Names. It's a bit different to the Net_Whois package in that it automatically knows which registry to use when supplied with a domain name. Several TLD's are currently supported with plans for expansion. Download source from: http://www.hpad.com/download/Net_Whois_Meta-1.0.0.tgz See it in action: http://ww.hpad.com/domain_names.html <http://www.hpad.com/domain_names.html> -------------------- Proposed Package Name: Net_Whois_Meta Functionality: Perform a whois query for a TLD. Validates a RFC 1032 Domain Name label. TLD's currently supported: .com/.net/.org/.com.au/.net.au/.org.au/.id.au/.asn.au Reason for submission: The Pear::Net_Whois package doesn't automatically know which registry to query based on the domain name supplied. Net_Whois_Meta automatically knows via configuration files. Implementation: platform independant. Net_Whois_Meta is instantiated and performed in two lines of code. Easy to use OO API. Easily extendible. Future Releases: Nameservers, Registrant names etc will be automatically parsed from the whois-query and assigned to member variables for easy manipulation etc.. More registry's will be added to cover a wider array of TLD's. (until they are all supported
