Hey,
I have stumbled across a great thing which would be handy especially in SOAP/XML-RPC transactions, this is XML Encryption [1]
XML Encryption supports any type of encryption, I would like to offer a HMAC solution (this is, after all, what it was for) which *may* use PEAR::Message (not sure that it can as its not the entire message that is Digested always) but will most likely use Crypt_HMAC.
I would also like to propose Crypt_PGP (or GPG which do you prefer?) which will be a wrapper around the PGP/GPG binary, and can be used in conjunction with XML_Encrypt and also XML Key Management is needed (perhaps I will write a seperate package for XML Key Management [2] too as it has other uses, XML_Key_Management an OK name?)
Feedback on these ideas welcome and whether or not you'd like to see me work on this stuff... I expect to have some working code in 2 weeks or so if work doesn't take up too much of my time.
