Bad idea.
The good idea is to handle path names with spaces. Spaces are legitimate
on nearly all file systems. PEAR should process them correctly.
The cheap copout is to die gracefully while saying something like "when
calling PEAR installer using file names with spaces in them, please use
8.3 name conversion, such as 'progra~1'."
