Hi, I'd like to propose XML_RDDL, a package to read Resource Directory Description Language (RDDL) documents. This is an XML format that is used to store information about resources in XML or XHTML documents. To some extent this is similar to RDF, although it does describe resources instead of articles, news and whatever RDF is used for... More information about the format can be found at http://www.rddl.org/ (This page actually contains RDDL content, that can be extracted, see example below). What makes this interesting is that you can add additional information to your website, that can be extracted to create linklists, or whatever you like. It's an extension of XHTML 1.0, but RDDL can be used in other files, too. The following information is stored for a resource: - lang (language of the resource) - title (a human readable title) - href (the URL where the resource is located) - role (the nature of the resource, machine readable) - actrole (the purpose of the resource, machine readable) - type (with the current specification, this is always 'simple') By using role and actrole, it's possible to select specific resources from the document, like saying "give me all resources that are CSS stylesheets" or all items that function as a directory of other RDDL items. Sourcecode for the class can be found at: http://www.php-tools.de/PEAR/XML_RDDL/RDDL.phps Example at: http://www.php-tools.de/PEAR/XML_RDDL/examples/example.php http://www.php-tools.de/PEAR/XML_RDDL/examples/example.phps Documentation at: http://www.php-tools.de/PEAR/XML_RDDL/doc/ There is already a Java and C API, so it's time, PHP is getting one, too, with a PEAR package. Comments and +1s are welcome. Stephan
