Pear is automatically installed when you type "make install" when
compiling PHP. You could also directly download the php4/pear CVS
directory (I put some instructions in my tutorial at
http://vulcanonet.com/soft/pear_tut/).
For the moment to install packages under the "pear" CVS module, you
could download them from the CVS and install them with the "pear"
script. For example:
# cd /usr/src/cvs/pear
# pear package HTTP_Upload/package.xml
# pear install HTTP_Upload-0.6.tgz
