I've done a quick adoption of the bug system of bugs.php.net, for pear.php.net (changes will be avaible soon). The system works in the following way: - User search for a package and get into the package home. For example: http://pear.php.net/package-info.php?package=XML_Parser - The user will see a link: "Package Bugs" (at the right of the CVS web link). - There will find the list of all bugs of the package, plus a link to report new bug or back to package home (a search system may be introduced in the future). - A bug reported for one package will email all the developers of the package (email sending has been disabled for the moment).
A few things I noticed: 1) "Thank you for your help! If the status of the bug report you submitted changes, you will be notified. You may return here and check on the status or update your report at any time. That URL for your bug report is: *http://bugs.php.net/2*." The URL is wrong. :) 2) I forgot to enter a passwod the first time I submitted. The error was black and normal sized, kind of easy to miss. Perhaps it should be made red or have a box put around it. 3) Sourceforge has a way to view bugs assigned to you through your account page. Is such a feature be possible here? This should help keep bugs from becoming forgotten. 4) There should be a category to report bugs about the web site, and possibly for the bug system until it's all set up. 5) Could you add a link (or an icon) next to each dependency in a package to view that dependency's bugs, in case it has a bug that you wouldn't want installed? (especially important if PEAR is going to automatically install dependencies!) -- Marshall Roch http://pear.php.net/user/mroch
