Hey,
Long time, no action on my part ;)
I've just had to skip about 500 (had over 1500 to catch up on) e-mails so if I'm doing anything wrong, feel free to yell!
Basically, I'm working on stuff at the moment which makes use of all these technologies.
RdfCalendar - This is an RDF based implementation of the icalendar spec.
GeoInfo - An RDF based markup for defining lat/long and some other stuffs
FOAF - An RDF based markup for describing yourself and linking yourself with friends.
icalendar - A standard for writing calendars, as used by Mozilla Calendar, MS apps (not sure which but its their standard it appears) and the OSX Calendar app too (it seems)
Currently, I don't have any working code, I'm just curious as to whether or not anyone would be interested in seeing me develop this code with PEAR in mind.
What I have in mind:
XML_RdfCalendar
I plan for the user to be able to do the following:
Create a complete calendar from scratch, doing something like:
$event[1] =& XML_RdfCalendar::new_event('foo');
$event[1]->set_start_time($start_time);
$event[1]->set_end_time($end_time);
$event[1]->set_description('bar baz');
and also tasks too, in a similar fashion, you just pass the array of events and an array of tasks to the XML_RdfCalendar::render() or some such and it'll output the RdfCalendar...
I would also like for the package to parse icalendar files themselves and output RdfCalendar.
File_iCalendar
This is going to be a counterpart to XML_RdfCalendar, I would like to take RdfCalendar files and generate ical files, and also ical files from scratch (obviously)
XML_GeoInfo
I still need to explore this technology some more, I've yet to see enough depth to justify a package *just* to output the XML...
However, I have had thoughts about allowing the output of world maps with geographic points marked on them...
I would be nice to also narrow this down to smaller maps, but the user would need to say from what lat/long it runs from and to....
XML_FOAF
I'm surprised this package hasn't been created already...
Anyways, XML_FOAF will serve to generate a full FOAF file...
I would also like to write some sort of digging tool... i.e. read a FOAF file, then go read friends files, then go read friends files upto a given depth... and then output in a variety of formats which I've yet to think up :)
I've been exploring ways to tie FOAF together with GeoInfo and RdfCalendar too, so I'll look to see if I can tie all three packages together whilst also leaving them open for tying together with *any* XML based technology, we have to remember that XML allows for namespaces and we need our code to accomadate the users want for them.
Anyhow, this is all pre-liminary RFC... thoughts?
