But how to determine the size of an resource?
I've already had a look at Stream_Var, but I see no reason for
this in HTTP_Download, do you?
Concerning gzipping, I found an easy workaround which seems to
work well: ob_start('ob_gz_handler'), wich will check for needed
headers from the client, will set our neccessary headers and gzip
the output on the fly. But I couldn't figure out why this doesn't
work if set in php.ini...
