Alpha can be used to draw the shadow, but the shadow itself need more than only an alpha channel to be drawn :-) > There are two things on my mind: > a) First I'd like to propose writing text from left-to-right or > easily from top-to-down (which should be doable). > b) You can draw text onto a new GD2-canvas, and rotate it by an > arbitrary angle using: > http://de3.php.net/manual/en/function.imagerotate.php > afaik. The 2st reason is FT2 already support rotated text draw. Drawing hor/ver text and then rotate them gives a lower quality than using directly the native FT2 functions. Btw, I wrote the imagerotate function, so it's not like I do not know it ;-) > Hmm - is saving and outputting at the same time used often? Pierre, > you mean for caching an image? The next request get the cached data. Btw, with GD2 it's only a lazyness function, nothing else (plus the cool auto headers). > Hmm - maybe, well okay. A Image_Text package is useful as a standalone package, as said. I doubt adding a dependency for this kind of tasks is required and even a good thing (TM). hth pierre
