I recently submitted a bug to bugs.php.net which has had no response to it, not even to acknowledge that it is a bug. It's a very strange and convoluted bug and has something to do with the _serializeValue function in Base.php. Here's a summary: If a PEAR server class calls a function which in turn calls OCILogon, but the OCILogon fails, the server segfaults Apache. Setting my own error handling function before the OCILogon call fixes the problem, so it seems that the error is in the error handling function (or maybe how it would interact with the OCI functions). The url for this bug is: http://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=25942 Someone, please test this and see if it's a problem on other machines.
Puh sounds like it is a php bug. Also the OCI8 ext is anything but well maintained atm. So I would try to localize the bug more exactly and hope it is infact a php error handler and not an OCI8 bug .. it doesn't sound like a SOAP bug however. Regards, Lukas
Since it only doesn't work with Oracle, then, yes, it sounds like a possible PHP bug, BUT what actually happens is that _serializeValue is being recursively called and filling up the available memory for the thread, which causes it to segfault. I think that this is possibly also a problem with PEAR::SOAP not handling errors out of the main server functions correctly.
