1.0+ shouldn't be required for stable releases, I am personally very
carefull with 1.0 releases, they indicate a feature complete and stable
software with documentation (at least that is what ppl exspect, in
business software that can be bought in the store is 1.0).
SmartIRC is stable and version number is currently 0.5.5, I think it
reached the stable state since 0.5.0. I will go more forwards 1.0 but my
class is not feature complete, at least for my plans. The class though
is stable and can be used on productive systems, also no BC breakages
etc...
Sometimes I feel that some ppl choose 1.0 way too fast, or bump with
every little change/release the minor number... it reaches 1.0 before
anything is stable or feature complete.
Maybe using version numbers rules be added to PEAR CS. I could write a
draft for that...
