Subpackages were brought up earlier this year, and afaik, they are going to
be introduced to pear sometime soon (I hope). That way, you can keep a lean
and mean base package, and only install the drivers/modules you need. For
example, if you use DB, but only with MySQL, why install all the other
drivers? It's pure bloat.
