Hello all, well after carefully reviewing all of the comments i got on my
initial proposal, I have rewritten the entire module.
http://www.webitecture.org/HTMLDataGrid/
Obvioulsy, there is still more work to do and more kludges to repair, but
here's the run down:
The output is controlled by a Render class, so far i would like it to ouput
the following (HTML_Table - done; Excel Spreadsheet - done but more to do;
an HTML Template; an XML document; a WML document; a DIV grid). They are
all dynamically included to limit the overhead.
The data is handled by a record object as well as a column object. I have
added a bind method to make adding a recordset quick and dirty; however you
still need to define your columns, I would like to change fix this soon.
The core datagrid control handles array sorting as well as paging.
Obviously, if you are retrieving your data from a database, it is best to
let the DB handle the sorting, not the datagrid.
Please feel free to take a look at my code and check out the examples. I
have one example for renderering out an HTML_Table as well as an Excel
Spreadsheet, more to come ...
Thanks for all your help and time, i have been using this with one of my
projects and it has been working wonderfully. Saved me a ton of time!
Cheers,
Andrew Nagy
