Let me first say: You can do easily gzip the file you get afterwards -
no problem with that :-))
The source for the problem has been long time hidden. But after
several month now the Debian people found out that the problem is in
the source-code and the way they compile the libs. Therer method for
compilation is "the new standard", however they got a problem just
because of their way of compilation. They're now on it to fix the
problem at it's root - but this shouldn't be too easy I heared.
Other distributions still compile the "convetional" way - so that's
no problem for them.
