Hi
Just first off ... small comment:
<strong> and <em> aren't going to be deprecated anytime soon ;)
Atleast they wont be deprecated in XHTML 1.1.
http://www.w3schools.com/tags/tag_phrase_elements.asp
But anything else I agree with :)
Specially because I was thinking about replacing this with my self made
BBcode thingie for my forum :)
Also I want to remind people about the dissucion about highlighting for
PHP, html, css and more and maybe integrated that into
HTML_BBCodeParser.
That's a great idea that should be followed up and should be done! :D
not only talked about, like many things here tend to do :)
Keep up the good work!
"Hi Stijn,
I'm just getting into a project where I hope to
make use of your BBCode parser package. I was digging
around the source files and experimenting a bit when I
came up with the following BBCodeParser wish list.
* Id like to see standards compliant mark-up used instead
of deprecated HTML for <u>, and <s> or <strike> These two
are marked deprecated under HTML 4.01. Other style-specific
tags are likely to follow in their footsteps, such as
<strong>, <em>, etc. since these effects can be replicated
with CSS (I didn't do much digging on the w3c website to
find out if all of these are in fact deprecated - just those
I mentioned). If possible I'd just like to see an option to
use generic <span> containers w/ CSS instead of the various
HTML tags.
* A Method to strip all BBCode instead of replace it (like
PHP function strip_tags). Perhaps a clone of strip_tags()
but for BBCode. (I don't know if this capability already
exists or not with the package?!?)
* Docs??? I can't seem to find any (except what's in the
package of course)!
If I'm simply blind and the package already contains the
above capability, then ignore this (or point me in the
right direction) :)
Thanks for contributing such a great package!
Regards,
Richard York"
