I'm against the "simple" solution of building a Math_RootFinding-
package and later let it die. A base-package with just RootFinding
(and maybe some other) functions as a start is fine imho. But the API
should already be as extensible as possible - and first of all, the
package-name should be.
We don't want too much packages "dying" (and be re-arranged under a
different name) if this is possible to avoid beforehand.
