That's a good question. It doesn't look like it's really used for
anything except in pgsql. Perhaps it's there for uniformity?
It seems in drivers other than pgsql, it may as well be removed for
efficiency sake, but unfortunately, someone somewhere may be using it for
something.
These object integer castings work fine in the other drivers under PHP 5.
Does it cause an error under mysqli? If so, exactly what's the PHP error
and what is the output of running var_dump($result) right before the line
in question?
