Agree with Jon. The discussions are needed, but perhaps a pear-advocacy mailing list will be a better forum for them. I'll be +1 for having one. An ideal mechanism would be to have these discussions there, and then some summary will be CC'ed to this list when the thread comes to a conclusion and is relevant to all developers.
+1 from me.
Point the first: This is not advocacy, and it is not cheerleading. This is a discussion by developers, for all developers, about PEAR development, so that PEAR group can see what is important to PEAR developers about PEAR development. I think that fits the definition of the PEAR-DEV "charter," such as it is; perhaps I am wrong. Point the second: my search of Google and the PEAR website reveals no PEAR advocacy mailing list. Does one exist? If not, are you suggesting that we halt any such discussions until one is created? Agreed that one should be created immediately if not sooner if it does not already exist. Point the third: I think the thread is pretty much complete anyway, *unless* a PEAR group member (other than Martin, who has already stepped up, thanks Martin!) would like to say what he thinks of as the nature of PEAR's greatness. I for one am eager to hear. Thanks, guys, sorry to be the continuous thorn in your side. -- Paul M. Jones pmjones@ciaweb.net Savant: the simple alternative to Smarty. http://phpsavant.com/
