In the Amsterdam meeting it was decided that pear-group elects the first members of PEAR QA. Later on PEAR QA will vote new members in/out themselves if necessary.
Excuse me? Must've been another PEAR meeting, as I can't recall putting my vote on that one...
Yeah, I certainly didn't, either... and Lukas cleared it up that it never happened :-) however, I'd love to be on the core team, as I've said from the very beginning of the QA team discussion. So let's get people started campaigning. According to the RFC, there will be a special voting procedure: Anyone who wants to can apply. Those who apply get put on a ballot at some time. Say give it one month for people to decide to run. At that point, there will be an election held, in which 7 positions will be open. That means that each dev will have 7 votes to distribute among the candidates at 1 vote per candidate (that is, they get to pick their favorite 7; not all 7 votes must be cast, however; this is not slashdot, no -1s). At the end of the voting period, which I'd suggest should be 1 week, just like usual proposals, with an extension of a week if less than 10 people vote (blank ballots included). I know the time frame is not covered in the RFC, and neither is the voter turnout. But I think what I've suggested is reasonable. Of course, it would be sad if only 10 people vote, and imho, it probably won't happen. Klaus
I have a few modifications to the above: We use PEPr, each person who wants to run, put in a comment - people should only comment who want to in the QA Team. Then we vote putting our Top 7 in the comment on the vote or +0 to abstain completely. I think the time period to gather the nominees should be 2 weeks OR LESS simply because if somebody is not active enough to respond speedily to this, we don't want them in QA. If we get a tie between the last two people, they should be given the option to let the other take their place, if neither is willing, a vote WITHIN the other 6 PEAR-QA members will vote on who gets the spot... I think this sounds more reasonable. - Davey
