I have uploaded PEAR 1.4.0dev6, and it is available at
http://www.chiaraquartet.net/PEAR-1.4.0dev6.tgz
This version requires a small update to work. Included in the package is pearchannel.xml, which will be installed in the data directory. If you have any of the previous dev versions installed, run:
$ pear channel-update pearchannel.xml
from the directory that contains pearchannel.xml, and things will work normally.
The largest change in this version is the use of the new package.getDownloadURL xml-rpc function from pearweb, which effectively obsoletes the download protocol. This will make setting up a pearweb server even simpler, as no mod_rewrite magic will be needed.
