Without sounding too pathetic I am hoping to spark some conversation about my GTK_ScrollingLabel proposal. The proposal came out pretty much the same time as the Savant proposal and it seems that Savant has monopolized most of the attention on this list. Now that the Savant discussion has simmered down I thought people may have time to review my proposal.
The problem with PHP-GTK is that setting up an interface can be difficult and tideous due to number of objects you have to set up just to make some text appear on the screen. I think PEAR can really help out by encapsulating a lot of the set up needed for the more common/difficult tasks. Making PHP-GTK easier to use will help it take off which will in turn help PEAR and the PHP community as a whole.
My proposal is for a package that creates a GTK label in which the text scrolls like a ticker feed. The class encapsulates all of the objects and functionality needed to make an interactive label that scrolls text in either direction, sets the display properties of the text, and allows for the scroll to be started, paused and reset.
