This is enough of a controversial point to merit a voting. I set next wednesday as the date I'll start outlining the resulting discussion in the wiki into the pear error handling guidelines. I think this could be done in two phases. First, we'll try and aprove in pepr the consentual part of the text, leaving alternatives for the controversial stuff. Then, we'll open votes on these types of points.Sounds good. I'll try to fill out the light areas in the exception stuff too. In particular, I know we need some more examples. We should also consolidate some of the stuff that Greg added, probably. Or incorporate some of the comments. I don't know if it's all that bad to have some comments in the RFC. I mean, clearly this stuff is open to lots of intepretation and there are many development styles. Or perhaps a "controversy" section at the end of certan sections that illustrates some dissenting opinions. Of course there's also value in having a cleaned up document. It's a good reference for PHP. Haven't seen anything PHP-specific other than George's book. Cool, yo. Hans
