Hi!
I started a pretty good discussion about using PHP 5 only.
To me, it is absolutely no problem to switch back to PHP 4
with the package if this is what the majoriy wants. Since
I am a newbie here, when do I make all the changes? After
the Call for votes?
Currently most of the stuff I am working on is PHP 5, so
I made a clear decision. Personally I don't understand why
one should refuse a PHP 5 only package. Well, this is the
future, every maintainer has to switch sooner or later.
I think it is a well-comunicated mistake that PEAR is
simple and for everyone, in fact it is not. So what is this
backwards stuff all around? In a couple of month everything
in this package will be done with PHP 5 on a level accepted
by the PEAR community, so then we have a PHP 4 version and
a PHP 5 version what makes everything more complicated for
the user than having only one choice, clean and neat.
All the best
Markus
