Hi! I started a pretty good discussion about using PHP 5 only. To me, it is absolutely no problem to switch back to PHP 4 with the package if this is what the majoriy wants. Since I am a newbie here, when do I make all the changes? After the Call for votes? Currently most of the stuff I am working on is PHP 5, so I made a clear decision. Personally I don't understand why one should refuse a PHP 5 only package. Well, this is the future, every maintainer has to switch sooner or later. I think it is a well-comunicated mistake that PEAR is simple and for everyone, in fact it is not. So what is this backwards stuff all around? In a couple of month everything in this package will be done with PHP 5 on a level accepted by the PEAR community, so then we have a PHP 4 version and a PHP 5 version what makes everything more complicated for the user than having only one choice, clean and neat. All the best MarkusLet the voting end, and decide afterwards. If you hadn't written any code, there would be neither a PHP4 nor a PHP5 version of Text_Huffman. Today, there's a PHP5 version. The outcome is positive. I can't see how can a package be refused for being PHP5 only. Anyone is free to write a PHP4 version of your package and cooperate with you maintaining both branches of the package. It's abusive to require you to support a version you won't use.
