Below you'll find the summary of the Group's activities in June. Have fun! Competitive Packages At the beginning of the month the Group answered some questions concerning competitive packages, which were handed in by a PEAR developer. The Group would like to clarify that the general policy is to try and work out with the developers to see if they merge their efforts Mail Transport issues Just like in the previous month some members of the Group suffered from mail routing problems which caused delays in handling account requests, package approvals, etc. The mail problems have been fixed. Mirror Offer Software & Support Verlag offered us to set up a mirror of the PEAR website. We had to refuse the offer for now, because the PEAR infrastructure is not yet ready for being mirrored. CVS commit karma The Group helped Daniel Convissor in the process of getting CVS commit karma for the "pearweb" module, which holds the source code for pear.php.net. License Clarification The Group answered questions brought up by a PEAR developer about details of the different flavours of the BSD license. Merchandising Sponsorship On behalf of the Group, Lukas Smith coordinated the process of finding a sponsor for the flyers that were handed out on LinuxTag. In this context the Group decided to not have any objections against (future) sponsoring engagements for PEAR merchandising articles as long as companies do not miuse the merchandising efforts for blatant surreptitious advertising. Future development of the PEAR base classes The Group discussed some aspects of the future development of the PEAR base package. Future PEAR Merchandising After LinuxTag Tobias Schlitt approached the Group with some news about future PEAR merchandising plans. Nobody had any objections against them as long as the name of the project does not get hijacked by companies, and the Group is glad about Tobias' commitment. External Weekly Summaries The Group analyzed the current situation of the different PEAR weekly summaries being produced by third parties (something that we encourage). Soon links to all of them (Zend PEAR Weekly News, the weblog "of Pears and Pickles" and the weekly news by PHP Magazine) will appear the website. -- - Martin Martin Jansen http://martinjansen.com/
