I suspect you'll find that most people agree with you. The format of the
question was pretty clearly pertaining to string concatenation formatting,
not single/double quoted string practices.
Note that Justin and Ryan don't actually agree with each other on the
subject actually posed in the question:
$foo . $bar / 'foo' . 'bar' / "f{$oo}" . "b{$ar}"
.vs
$foo.$bar / 'foo'.'bar' / "f{$oo}"."b{$ar}"
For readability's sake, concatenation operators should have a space on
either side ... IMHO, anyway.
