The follwing is an _approximation_ of what happens. The exact procedures
may be a bit different, but it doesn't exactly matter...
As you may have figured out by now, the PHP commands inside the .phpt
file get executed, and if the execution fails, get turned into a .php
file so you can examine line by line what went wrong. It also creates an
.out, .diff and another file I can't remember the extension of right now
that holds the expected output.
But, the next time you run the test, the .php (and all the other related
files) are blown away.
So, the deletion of the .php test scrirpt is by design, since it's not
really supposed to be THE test script. Now you know...
