Hello, I am currently implementing a postal package routing system for Germany and Austria. Background: The "Deutsche Post" and the "Oesterreichische Post" along with most postal companies are using barcodes to route packets. The numeric codes for those barcodes are pulled together from rather big databases (.de has ~ 1.500 000 rows total) I use SQLite as DBMS as it exactly fits for this purpose. My package would handle the import of the data provided by the postal companies using shell scripts. It will provide methods to pull the data out of sqlite. It will try to do some extended lookup methods inlcuding phonetic search to also process typos and/or different writings. In the end it will spit out the information needed to create a barcode (e.g. using FPDF). It will use a factory pattern to allow other maintainers to implement routing classes for other countries. Other countries and postal companies may follow. So ... I have to do this job for .at and .de anyways. If there is a general interest I will add some abstraction stuff to make it PEAR'able. BTW: The routing databases are property of the postal companies. AFAIK the are freely available to it's customers. I really don't know if this fits into PEAR and it's no problem for me if it doesn't. Comments anyone? Greetings -- Daniel Khan
