Hello Matt,

I can see the sense in this when it comes to updating the DB. But what happens if someone wants the DB running on a separate machine? OK, it'll make the whole import/export stuff more complicated, and stuff like soundex isn't available in every DB (it is in MySQL, Postgres AFAIK via a contrib extension). But it seems to me PEAR is all about that kind of flexibility.I understand what you mean but this usage seems so perfect for SQLite. E.g. we have writes 4x/year the other time we have reads. The updates are rare enough to use replication (rsync) if you have different machines. Yes - I confess I am SQLite fan. But yes - this is lack of flexibilty on the other hand.
