Is there a way to define a replace operation in package.xml for more than one file? Would it not be better to define a set of variables like @package_version@ that always get replaced (like CVS always replaces RCS variables)? This does not seem necessary to me. If a package has constantly changing files, then a package.xml generator (PEAR_PFM) should be used, otherwise, adding the replacements in once is a one-time operation. I am not in favor of any magic - magic == hack in my book. However, I could see adding a global task section in package.xml 2.0 that could handle explicit processing of files. This would solve the problem without introducing any non-obvious actions on the installer's part. Greg
